Yes, the new hate crime legislation is a slippery slope.
Yes, preachers in Canada have been prosecuted for reading portions of the Bible.
Yes, there has been at least one prosecution for Christian picketing of a gay rally in this country, though the case was dismissed.
But there is a clause in the proposed legislation outlawing crimes against people with "actual or perceived illness". That would be including such illnesses as Alzheimers, epilepsy, and mental illness.
It is with the latter I am concerned.
Wouldn't it be nice to have a law that would prevent young thugs from beating up on the mentally ill homeless?
These different measures need to be separated, pronto!
